We spent Halloween over at our friends Chris and Traci’s house this year. I told my Chris that I was tired of handing out candy to un-costumed teenagers and I wanted to see what a real neighborhood looked like on Halloween night.
I was not disappointed. As we pulled on to their street, my jaw dropped open. There were children running everywhere dressed up as princess, supermans, pirates, you name it. People sitting outside elaborately decorated homes handed out candy to hordes of trick-or-treaters. I was in awe.
I tagged along with Traci, Quinn, her friend C and her little girl J as they trick-or-treated through the neighborhood. Quinn picked up the concept really quickly and before long Traci was no longer allowed to accompany him to the front steps of houses as he asked for candy. I think it was so he could ask people for more candy, which he did on a number of occasions.
